Membership: Membership in the Libertarian Party of Ohio has three tiers, defined in the Constitution. Basic Member, an Ohio resident who affirms the Non-Aggression Pledge; Supporting Member, a Basic Member who is registered to vote, has not voted in the most recent primary of another party, and donates at least $25 a year; Lifetime Member, a Supporting Member whos annual donations add up to $1,500. When the party has no ballot access, the Bylaws further clarify that members are registered Ohio voters not affiliated with another party who demonstrate an interest in the LPO or LP National and have affirmed the Non-Aggression Pledge, or who are listed in the Ohio voter database as "Libertarian."
Conventions:
Delegate Selection: Delegates to both state and national conventions are selected according to a priority schedule in the Bylaws, rather than elected, with preference given to candidates, elected incumbents, state party officers, county party chairs, and finally other members. There is usually no limit to the number of delegates to a state convention.
How to Participate for 2025/2026: Sign up on the website at https://lpo.org/join/. Because the LPO has ballot access, you can vote for your Central Committee member during the 2026 Ohio primaries, or file to run for Central Committee yourself using Form 2-K from the Ohio Secretary of State. This form is due 90 days before the primary, which is generally held in March. A form on the LPO website will collect information from people who wish to be delegates to the 2026 state and national conventions.
